Exploration and Discovery Approved Topics back to home page For the current Unit of Learning you will need to choose an area of exploration or discovery for your research. Below is a list of topics that you should choose from. If you would prefer to research a topic not listed below, this may be possible, but will need to be approved by your teacher. Once you have chosen a subject or topic, you will need to decide on the time period that you will focus upon. The topics have been divided into two broad categories: · Exploration and Discovery of Earth and Space · Scientific Exploration and Discovery When you are choosing a topic from the list below please think about which parts of the exploration/discovery you are going to present. All of these topics are very wide so you will need to narrow your research. Select one of these to help you: · Is there a particular time frame within the overall exploration you wish to research? Are you interested in the early stages of the exploration? A key period of time in the exploration? What is happening in the exploration now? What might happen in the future? · Is there a particular group of explorers you would like to research? For example, if you choose Antarctic exploration, you could narrow your research to British Antarctic exploration; Norwegian Antarctic exploration; a group of explorers who had the most impact on Antarctica. · Is there a particular geographical area you would like to research? For example, if you choose land exploration, you could focus your attention on early exploration of New South Wales in Australia; you could choose exploration of The Himalayan Mountains; you could choose early exploration of America etc.
